The Charity Commission's online service is now accepting Annual Returns / Updates for financial years ending in 2008 (assuming that the period has completed, of course). You need to have registered for a password first

Big Lottery Fund: BASIS
Round two of the Big Lottery Fund's BASIS programme has opened to applications, with up to £50 million available this round. BASIS (Building and Sustaining Infrastructure Services) is intended to improve the support available to all voluntary and community sector organisations in England.
Myplace
The Big Lottery Fund has announced the launch of a new £190 million programme to support projects that deliver world class facilities for young people. The programme is called myplace and will run between 2008 and 2010. It is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and will be delivered by the Big Lottery Fund.

Volunteering in health and social care
The Department of Health is consulting on 'Towards a strategy to support volunteering in 'health and social care'. The aim is to
* raise the esteem and profile of volunteering; * help improve management and support for volunteers;
* support more robust evaluation of the outcomes and benefits of volunteering;
and
* allow more coherent investment to support their involvement.
The consultation runs to 30 September, working towards a final strategy and implementation plan in early 2009.
