Liaison

Sunderland CVS develops and helps maintain links with a wide range of voluntary and community organisations. These include user organisations and those representing the diverse communities which exist in and around the City of Sunderland.

In addition, the task of SCVS is to promote cross-sector relationships including those with the relevant local authority departments (not just social services), the partners identified as key partners to the Local Strategic Partnership, Health Authority, Sunderland TPCT, Social Services, University of Sunderland, City of Sunderland College, Social Enterprise Sunderland, Police authority, Sunderland Housing Group, and other public agencies operating within its locality and the business world.

Sport Partnership Survey - North East
VONNE is currently working in partnership with NAVCA on its Strategic Sports Partnership project looking at improving engagement between the VCS sports sub sector, VCS infrastructure and statutory partners such as Sport England.

Gentoo revised Support Network Agreement

Briefing paper on the new Working Neighbourhoods Fund
A briefing paper on the new Working Neighbourhoods Fund from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) is available to download. working neighbourhoods paper


The appendix to the paper lists allocations, as well as the 21 transitional areas that will not receive funding after 2009/10. NAVCA is part of the Community Sector Coalition (CSC) which will look to address issues arising from Working Neighbourhoods Fund early next year.

Childrens Fund
From April 2008 the Children's Fund will no longer be ringfenced. NCVCCO have teamed up with Children & Young People Now to conduct a survey to find out what impact the removal of ringfencing will have on existing Children's Fund projects. The responses received will help to give them a more complete picture of the impact these changes could have on the childrens voluntary and community sectors. The questions should only take a couple of minutes to answer. No answers will be attributed to individuals or projects. The survey will close on Friday 21 December and is available at :

Is something missing?
SCVS are conducting a questionnaire to find out what the voluntary and community sector needs will be in the future. All the completed forms handed in by 19th October 2007 will be entered into a prize draw for a digital camera.

State of the City Debate
The sixth State of the City Debate was held this year on July 11 at Crowtree Leisure Centre.

The panel answered almost 20 questions on the night on topics ranging from the role Sunderland will play in the 2012 Olympics, the Vaux site, and employment in the city, to anti-social behaviour, litter and dog fouling.

Hetton Downs Area Action Plan
Sunderland City Council has commissioned Nathanial Lichfield and Partners (NLP) to develop an Area Action Plan for the Hetton Downs area of the city, to form part of the Council's new Local Development Framework.

The NLP have produced a Preferred Option Report, Plan and accompanying Formal Sustainability Appraisal. The preferred option is now the subject of a statutury six week public consultation beginning on 8 August 2007 until 18 September 2007, in accordance with the Planning and Complusory Purchase Act 2004 and the Town and Country Planning Regulations.

SCVS Database Consultation
Sunderland CVS in partnership with the Sunderland City Council e-neighbourhoods team have plans to create an interactive online database. It would essentially be a comprehensive City of Sunderland online directory of voluntary and community organisations.

We would like your input. The database needs to be useful, workable and applicable for all individuals, groups and organisations to use.

Sunderland Community Development Plan – 2nd Phase Consultation

The Sunderland Partnership commissioned a Community Development Plan for the City in November 2006. The development of the Plan involved holding 13 consultation events across the City and meeting with key stakeholders to find out what you think the main issues are for community development in Sunderland
