Joanies Trust

The Joanies Trust welcomes applications from registered charities working with young people aged 11 to 25. Applications will benefit by showing how a project supports this particular age group.

The Trustees want to support projects that offer intensive support as well as those that promote preventative work and diversionary activities. These include the use of art forms for their therapeutic value, and especially those that are designed to lead to individual development through integration, work opportunities or accreditation.

They are looking for:

  1. Excellence, innovation and imagination
  2. Strong evidence of how closely applicants consult young people in developing the service
  3. Community involvement or local financial support

The following are not funded:

  1. National organisations, even if the project is local
  2. General appeals and activities which collect funds for subsequent redistribution
  3. Individuals
  4. Promotion of religion
  5. Services run by statutory or public authorities, or that replace statutory funding
  6. Minibuses
  7. Projects that have already taken place
  8. Animal charities

Grants are given for running costs, both project and core costs, and capital costs. Most grants awarded are for around £1000. The Trustees will not commit themselves to awarding grants to an organisation for more than one year, though organisations are welcome to reapply twelve months after the first application.

The next deadline for applications is 31st December 2006.

The Trustees will only consider applications submitted on the Trust’s application form. In order to keep costs as low as possible and to avoid postage, applicants are asked to read the guidelines and download a form from the website.
