The Webb Memorial Trust

Social and economic justice and the advancement of education

The Webb Memorial Trust is a registered charity established in 1947 as a memorial to the socialist pioneer Beatrice Webb. Today it distributes annually grants totalling £70,000 primarily for projects in the UK and Eastern Europe. (It does not fund direct individual student applications).

All the work it supports should reflect the original aims and ambitions of the Webbs - the achievement of social and economic justice and the advancement of education and learning with respect to the history and problems of government and social policy. Grants range from £500 to £10,000. Normally the Trust allocates around £70,000 each year.

Full details of Trust’s interests and priorities are available on the website, along with an application form. Any organisation wishing to obtain funding should write to the Secretary of the Trust outlining the nature of the project - costs, timing and how the project fits in with the Trust's objectives. Applications for grants in the Trust's financial year, which begins on 1st August, must be submitted by 31st January in the previous financial year (i.e. in the same calendar year). Contact:

Michael Parker, Trust Secretary, Mount Royal, Allendale Road, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46 2NJ.
